	Tricks for locating terminology on the Internet using Google (for example, searching for words on the tip of your tongue: an aid which no dictionary can provide),

Examples of how my macros can help you:

PROBLEM	SOLUTION
MS Word's own character count function (File/Properties/Statistics) does NOT include text in text boxes and in various other locations in a Word document.	A character count macro which counts the characters in all ten or so of Word's locations (so-called "stories", i.e. main text, text boxes, headers, footers, footnotes and endnotes, to name a few) and calculates the cost of a translation based on your own specific line rate and the time required based on your output.
To spell-check MS Powerpoint presentations, one needs to set the language separately for each individual text box within each slide: a very tedious and time-consuming operation.	A macro to instantly set the desired language throughout the presentation so that you can spell-check your document reliably and in little time.
You are translating a text and need to check whether the expression that you are using exists. You want to check reputable sources such as high-quality newspapers. Where do you look?	A macro to search specific newspaper websites which you consider reputable sources. (This macro can be adapted to all sorts of websites)
You are translating for a company which has a multilingual website and need to check how a specific term has been translated in the past.	A macro to search for your term on a specific multilingual website. This macro can be extended to cover various related multilingual websites. In banking, for example, these might include the following: www.ubs.com www.credit-suisse.com www.raiffeisen.ch

... and all these macros require just one click of the mouse!

Why choose me?

	Who better than a translator can understand the special needs of other translators? The macros which I have created are used by translators and terminologists throughout Switzerland and abroad on a daily basis and with great efficiency (freelance translators and teams of translators working in banks or large translation companies).
	Computer jargon and the inability of many computer experts to relate to the user (especially users with specific needs) and to express themselves in terms which the user is capable of understanding can create a barrier of misunderstanding and a lot of frustration. In this respect, my profession as an "interpreter" and "linguistic go-between" come in very useful.
	The tools provided and techniques taught are tried and tested and are part of a postgraduate course at a Swiss school for translators and interpreters. The advantage of one-to-one consulting is that I am able to focus on your specific needs.

How does consulting take place?

Via the Internet (macros can be installed and settings adjusted via the programme Microsoft Windows Messenger: Start/All Programs/Windows Messenger), or
At your office.

NOTE: The macros installed, the customization of Word and the techniques taught do not require the presence of CAT tools such as machine translation or translation memory but complement these very well.

Many of the MS Word macros are also available for MS Excel.
